Use the functions in misc/util.c to reduce the duplicated code.

We should use the $(top_builddir)/misc/util.o rather than
$(srcdir)/../misc/util.o, otherwise, if B != S, then the util.o would be
placed in $(srcdir) which would cause build errors.
